A solo pianist does add a focal point to any social gathering and does encourage conversation. When people walk into a venue and hear gentle music they immediately feel at ease and they will usually chat freely.
I can always provide a digital piano for venues that don’t have an accoustic one. All the music on this site was recorded on the same digital piano that I would bring. The quality of a digital piano is usually far superior to most pianos that a venue may have. Most of them are little more than furniture and aren’t really playable. However, most people would rather see me behind a ‘real piano’ and I’m always willing to oblige.
